What is cuddle therapy?

Platonic · Consensual · Professional

Professional cuddle therapy is safe, nurturing, non-sexual touch from a trained practitioner. We agree everything before we begin: the kinds of touch you would like, what is off-limits, and how you will tell me to pause or stop. You stay in control throughout. Many people simply want to feel held, relaxed and less alone. Some people find it eases stress or touch hunger, but no particular result is promised.

What it is

  • Clothed, platonic touch: hand-holding, hugs, spooning, a head on a shoulder
  • Built on clear, ongoing consent; you can say “stop” at any time
  • Quiet presence or gentle conversation, whichever you prefer
  • A calm, respectful, non-judgemental space for adults (18+)
  • Delivered by a CPI-certified practitioner [ADD “insured” once your policy starts]

What it isn’t

  • Never sexual or romantic: no kissing, no intimate touch, no sexual requests
  • Never undressed: we both stay fully clothed, and touch is only over clothing
  • Not massage, counselling or medical treatment, and not a replacement for your GP
  • Not a relationship or friendship outside our sessions
  • Not for anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Hello, I’m Mary Jane Orajekwe, though most people call me Macjay. I am a Cuddle Therapist certified by Cuddle Professionals International (CPI), trained in consent, boundaries, trauma awareness, safeguarding and professional ethics.

Before cuddle therapy, I spent [X YEARS] working in nursing and care, where I saw how much a kind, safe human presence matters to people. [ADD A SENTENCE OR TWO ABOUT YOUR CARE EXPERIENCE AND WHY YOU STARTED SWEET CUDDLES.]

I believe everyone deserves to feel safe, cared for and in charge of their own body. My sessions are calm, unhurried and entirely on your terms.

How it works

Four gentle steps

  1. Enquiry

Send me a message using the enquiry form, email or phone. Tell me a little about what you are looking for and where you are.

  2. Booking & screening

I confirm your travel quote and you pay to book. Every new client provides photo ID and proof of address, then we have a 15-minute video intro call before your first session. If we decide not to go ahead, you get a full refund.

  3. Consultation

You complete the consultation and consent forms. At the start of your first session we talk through your preferences, boundaries, health needs and stop signal together.

  4. Your session

Clothed, platonic cuddling at your pace. I check in throughout, and you can pause, change position or stop at any time. Afterwards we take a moment to close gently.

Your boundaries

Your comfort · your boundaries · your choice

Consent is ongoing

Agreeing to one thing never means agreeing to everything. I ask before any new touch or position and explain changes before I make them.

Yes, no, not right now

All are complete answers. You never need to explain or apologise.

Strictly non-sexual

Sessions follow the CPI code of ethics: platonic and non-romantic. Sexual comments, requests or touch end the session.

Clothing is not optional

We both stay fully clothed. Touch is only over clothing and never on intimate areas.

You are in control

You don’t have to talk, share your history or give touch back. I notice non-verbal cues and pause to check rather than assume.

Stop at any time

Say “stop” or use our agreed signal and everything stops immediately, no questions asked. The same applies to me.

Emotional safety

Tears and laughter are both welcome. Cuddle therapy isn’t counselling or medical care, and I can suggest other support if you need it.

Confidentiality

What you share stays private. Before we begin I explain the few legal exceptions, such as a serious risk of harm.

Mutual respect

You are never responsible for my feelings. I will never ask for gifts, favours or money beyond the agreed fee.

Please be sober, freshly showered, in loose comfortable clothes (no shorts or tank tops), and avoid strong scents. Read the full Client Guidelines (PDF).

Your body. Your boundaries. Your choice.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is cuddle therapy sexual in any way?

No. Sessions are 100% platonic and non-sexual. There is no kissing, no intimate touch and no sexual requests. Anyone who asks for or suggests anything sexual, in words or actions, will have their session ended with no refund.

Do we stay clothed?

Yes, always. We both stay fully clothed and hands stay outside clothing. Loose indoor clothes or pyjamas are ideal; please avoid shorts and tank tops.

What happens in a first session?

A new client's first session lasts at least 3 hours (£135 at £45 per hour). We start with a relaxed consultation about what you would like, what is off-limits and how you will tell me to pause or stop. Then we cuddle at your pace, with regular check-ins, and finish with a gentle close.

Do I have to talk?

Not at all. Some people like to chat; others prefer quiet. You never need to share your history or explain your boundaries.

What if I change my mind during a session?

That’s completely fine. You can pause, change position or stop at any time, for any reason, without explaining.

Is this therapy or medical treatment?

No. Cuddle therapy is a complementary wellbeing service. I don’t diagnose or treat any condition, and it doesn’t replace your GP, counselling or medical care. If you are seeing a doctor or therapist for emotional issues, please check with them first and let me know.

Who is it for?

Adults (18+) of any gender who would like safe, caring touch, whether you are touch-starved, stressed, grieving, living alone, or simply want to relax.

How much is travel?

No travel costs for sessions within Cambridge. Outside Cambridge you pay my travel from Cambridge at [RATE] per mile or the standard-class public transport fare, always quoted before you book.

How do I pay or cancel?

New clients pay to book, before the video intro call; returning clients pay before the session starts. Payment by [PAYMENT METHODS]. Please give at least [48] hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange by email or text. Late cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable.

Why do you ask for ID and proof of address?

For both our safety. Every new client provides valid photo ID (passport, photo driving licence or other government photo ID) and proof of address dated within the last 3 months (such as a utility bill, council tax bill or bank statement). You can show them on our video intro call or send copies securely. Copies are stored password-protected and encrypted, seen only by me, and securely deleted within [7] days of your first session; I keep only a short note that the check was done (UK GDPR). See the Privacy notice.

What is the video intro call?

After you pay, we have a 15-minute video call (included) before your first session. We say hello, talk through what you would like and how sessions work, and check your ID. It is not recorded. If either of us decides not to go ahead, you get a full refund.

Is what I share kept private?

Yes. Your information is confidential and handled under UK GDPR. The only exceptions are where the law requires it or someone is at serious risk of harm.

How do you keep home visits safe?

Every new client provides photo ID and proof of address and has a 15-minute video intro call with me after payment, before the first visit. Safety measures are in place to ensure the practitioner's safety while delivering every session.

Can I leave a review?

Yes please. Reviews help other people feel safe trying cuddle therapy for the first time. After your session I will send you a link. Reviews are always optional and never affect your booking.

Are you trained and insured?

Yes. I am certified by Cuddle Professionals International and hold professional and public liability insurance [INSURER].
